Jules Morgan, who is a travel enthusiast, has written a guide for Simonseeks.com called 'Edinburgh: My 5 Top Hotels, with photos & a wee video'. In this guide Jules has described The Café Royal as having "excellent pub food and stunning historic wood work".

Originally dating back to 1826, The Café Royal stood just across the road from the present building and was known for its dining room special - oysters. In 1863 The Royal moved to its new location in this stylish Parisian building, designed by local architect Robert Paterson. Entering The Café Royal is like taking a step back in time with its stained glass, murals, mirrors and wood panelings.
